Planning A Baby Shower For Multiples

If you follow our blog you likely know that I have written about giving baby shower gifts for multiples before but never about planning a baby shower for multiples. If you are simply attending the party you will typically purchase a gift, show up, and socialize with the mommy-to-be and her friends and family; if you are planning the baby shower things will likely be a bit different. Being given the duty of planning a baby shower may seem intimidating if you have never done it before but it can actually be a fun and exciting process that will run smoothly if you plan ahead of time with the right resources.

The first step to take when planning any baby shower is selecting a date. With the holiday season upon us you may want to wait until after it has passed when choosing your date; family and friends may have other events to attend and you don’t want the attendance of the baby shower to be low. Make sure you choose a date that will work for the mom-to-be and work around any appointments she may have. Choosing a date on a Saturday or Sunday is a great idea because most people will not have to work or can switch shifts around. Because this is a baby shower for multiples you may want to choose a date with fun significance, such as a double with the same double digits, a good example is Sunday January 22, 2012.

After you have selected the date it is time to get the planning in motion. You may want to find out if the mother plans having duplicates of everything for her twins or if she is going to have everything be completely different; this will give you a great place to start when planning. If the mother is planning on having many identical elements for the babies then planning will be simple you may just want to add certain elements with each baby’s name if they have been chosen already. For example maybe you can get two small cakes instead of one large welcoming each baby into the world. If the mother plans on everything items being unique to each baby then you can almost plan two separate showers to demonstrate two different personalities. You could buy two different diaper cakes with stuffed animals attached and use them as center pieces for the gift table.

While planning a baby shower for multiples may be a bit different than planning a shower for one child it won’t differ that much; it is a good idea that you start planning today to ensure that al of the details are in order for the big day. The mother-to-be will have her hands doubly full once her twins (or perhaps triplets) arrive so any details that you put into planning the baby shower are sure to be appreciated.
